UIAA is a network connecting Ugandan alumni of Irish scholarships. We support education, cultural exchange, and development between Uganda and Ireland.
We maintain a database of fellows, offer scholarships, host events, and create opportunities for learning and networking.
Our Impact in Numbers
Since 1994, the Ireland Fellows Programme (IFP) has provided fully funded Master’s degrees to early and mid-career professionals in Uganda and, since 2016, Rwanda.
Recognizing the need to assess the long-term impact of this investment, the Uganda Irish Alumni Association (UIAA), with support from the Embassy of Ireland, coordinated the first-ever IFP Tracer.

Our Objectives
Alumni Database Management
Maintain information and a database of beneficiaries of Irish Aid fellowship funding and other alumni from Ireland.
Cross-Cultural Networking & Exchange
Foster networking and interaction between members of the Association and Irish culture, development, and education representatives who come to the Republic of
Uganda; and between Ugandan citizens who studied in Ireland and Irish citizens who studied in Uganda.
Promote Study & Growth Opportunities
Identify education and other capacity building opportunities for Association members and other Ugandan students who seek to study in Ireland.
Encourage Academic Exchange
Provide a forum for academic reflection and exchange including scholarly meetings, debates, and discussions on culture, education, development, and other matters affecting Uganda and Ireland.
Student Support & Guidance
Provide counsel to Ugandan students who go to Ireland for studies and in the same way assist Irish students who come to the Republic of Uganda.
Resource Mobilization
Secure funding and resources to support the activities and growth of the Association.
Support & Collaboration
Carry out all additional activities that help achieve the association’s goals and objectives.
