The Uganda Irish Alumni Association (UIAA), with support from the Embassy of Ireland, is proud to release the first-ever Tracer and Engagement Study of the Ireland Fellows Programme (IFP) alumni covering 1994–2024.
This comprehensive report tracks the journeys of more than 380 fellows from Uganda and Rwanda who pursued Master’s studies in Ireland and East Africa. It highlights their career progression, professional impact, and contributions to national development.
Key findings show:
• 97.9% of fellows successfully completed their Master’s degrees.
• 95% reported improved professional effectiveness after the programme.
• 73% contribute significantly to national development priorities, from governance and health to education and civil society.
• 86% chose to remain in their home countries, contributing directly to local growth.
The study also identifies opportunities for stronger alumni engagement through mentorship, digital platforms, regional chapters, and structured policy dialogue.
This milestone provides valuable evidence to strengthen the Ireland Fellows Programme, inform policy, and enhance the role of alumni as change-makers.
